Entering feet and fractions with the tape keypad

Tap any measurement to open the tape keypad.

  1. Type the feet, then tap '.
  2. Type the inches, then tap ".
  3. Add the fraction with the 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 and 1/16 keys. Fraction keys add up: 1/2 then 1/8 is 5/8, 1/2 then 1/8 then 1/16 is 11/16.
  4. Tap Done.

The line under the number shows the total in inches, so 3' 4-5/8" also reads = 40-5/8". Results round to the step set in Settings: 1/16, 1/8 or mm.

Picking fittings and gaps

On Offset or Cut length, tap Change on the fittings row. Pick the fitting at each end; the sheet shows which end you are editing.

The take-out of each fitting, the weld gap or the thread make-up for the joint type are subtracted from your center to center measurement. You can change the gap in the same sheet.

Show the math

Tap Show the math under any result. Each step is listed from your measurement to the cut, and each take-out shows the catalog, page and date it came from.

Cut sheets and stock lengths Pro

Tap Add to cut sheet on a result to add it as a piece to a run. Each run lists its pieces by letter with the cut for each, the total pipe and how many stock lengths you need, for example 1 random length (21').

Set your stock length in the run. Use Share PDF or Print to take the sheet to the bench.

When fitting data updates

An app update can correct a published take-out. Saved pieces that use it show Fitting data updated with how much the cut changes.

Old pieces keep their number until you tap Update. Tap Keep my number to leave the piece as it is.

Slope gauge calibration

  1. Open Slope and choose Measure.
  2. Lay the iPhone along the top of the pipe, long side with the pipe, and hold it still.
  3. Tap Calibrate (flip 180°).
  4. Turn it end for end in the same spot, hold it still and tap again.

Calibrate again if you change your case.

Backup and restore

In Settings, open Backup and restore and tap Export backup. You get a .fitterwise file with your cut sheets and edited take-outs; save it to Files or send it to yourself.

To bring it back, tap Restore from a backup and pick the file. Restoring adds what is in the file and never deletes what is on the iPhone. Jobs are also part of your normal iPhone backup.

Restoring Pro on a new phone

Sign in with the same Apple Account you bought Pro with. In Elbow, open Settings and tap Restore Purchases. There is no Elbow account to sign in to.

iCloud sync Pro

Turn on iCloud sync in Elbow Settings. Jobs and cut sheets are kept in your own private iCloud database, which the developer cannot read. Each device must be signed in to iCloud with the same Apple Account.

To remove synced data, delete it from iCloud storage in iOS Settings.
